Lekotek Light Boxes

Lekotek of Georgia focuses on integrating children with disabilities into everyday activities. They provide families with the skills, materials, and knowledge to effectively help their children at home.

The ask - Lekotek wanted to bring in learning tools that would allow the children to have a more hands on experience to learning. We teamed up to design and build light boxes to enable the children to practice their spelling, reading, and counting in a new way.

Day 1: Ideation

Taking the requirements given by Lekotek, we designed a light box that could be built and delivered in 2 days. We created a project plan to utilize all team members so that everyone was working on something in parallel to ensure we would meet the deadline.

Day 2: Build

Day 1: Ideation

Wood was measured and cut to ensure 2 boxes could be made. Lights were secured with hooks to the inside of the box to keep them in place and allow for easy replacement. Grooves were added to slide in the translucent acrylic top. Letters and numbers were laser cut from pieces of colored acrylic.

Delivered the light boxes to Lekotek's headquarters. Showed the team the design elements and set them up for the first students to use.
